Forensic Proficiency Testing Services launched their second Digital Forensics PT on 7th August 2017. This is the latest addition to the growing portfolio of FPTS products.
After carefully researching the needs of Digital Forensics Units in the police and commercial sector, FPTS have put together a unique, and possibly “world-first”, Computer Hard Drive Proficiency Test.
This Proficiency Test is designed to test the proficiency of participants in:
- the imaging of a computer hard drive
- searching the imaged data for specified file contents
FPTS will supply participants with a computer tower containing a hard drive pre-seeded with data. The PC will not be a fully functioning machine but instead a ‘shell’ into which FPTS have installed the pre-seeded HDD. The HDD has been loaded with a fully functioning operating system (Ubuntu) and seeded with a number of files, including a range of specific ‘themed’ images. The contents of the hard drive have been designed against a specific scenario designed by FPTS, which will replicate a functional computer owned by an individual. There are two different kits allowing participants to order a kit tailored to the tests performed by their laboratory.
This Round is on-sale until 14th September 2017.
Further details can be found on the FPTS website at Computer Hard Drive Proficiency Tests.
