It is now some weeks since we announced the launch of our new Forensic Proficiency Testing Services, FPTS, and we are delighted with the response and interest we have received from the “forensics” industry.
Body Fluids
Launch Of New Scheduled & On-Demand Rounds
Today (26th October) sees the launch of two new Body Fluid Proficiency Test Rounds:
- Biological Materials Scheme, Body Fluid Identification, Scheduled Round 2
Kit delivery date: on or before 1st February 2017
- Biological Materials Scheme, Body Fluid Identification, On-Demand Round 1

Body Fluids On Items
Our next Body Fluids Proficiency Tests will be Body Fluids On Items (rather than on swatches of materials). We plan to have these new kits available in the first quarter of 2017.
Accreditation to ISO 17043
Our FPTS Team have been making heroic efforts with preparing for Quality Accreditation to ISO 17043. We are delighted to report that we are now ready for a Pre-Assessment visit by UKAS on the 3 November 2016. We believe Pre-Assessments are an important part of the route to accreditation having used these during our ISO 17025 accreditation project many years ago.
This early date gives us confidence in our aim of being fully accredited to ISO 17043 in the first quarter of 2017.
Digital Forensics
We have been very pleased at the very enthusiastic feedback we’ve had on our aims to provide “digital forensics” proficiency tests. Digital forensics, of course, covers a large breadth of techniques, technologies and scientific disciplines and the Forensic Science Regulator’s October 2017 deadline looms very large on the horizon. We are pleased to announce that we have had several very constructive meetings with different organisations interested in sourcing and assisting us with establishing digital forensic PTs, including police forces and the Home Office.
We plan to have our first digital forensic PTs available early in 2017.
Fingerprints
Our fingerprints proficiency tests are now in the final stages of production and you will be seeing an announcement in the next few weeks about their availability.
FPTS On-Site Visits
In the last few weeks our FPTS team have been busy on the road visiting Police Forces, independent forensic science providers, Government Departments and Agencies and Universities. Thank you to everyone we visited for your enthusiasm and valuable feedback on what we have to offer and what we are developing.
